The Aztec Mentor Program (AMP) was launched in Fall 2013 with the support of the Aztec Parents Fund. AMP is a partnership between SDSU Career Services and Alumni Engagement. It is aligned with SDSU's strategic plan "Building on Excellence" and its "Leadership Starts Here" commitments.
The program is open to eligible juniors, seniors and graduate students in all majors. The program runs during the Fall (Aug - Dec) and Spring (Jan - May) semesters.
The program has grown from 100 matches in Fall 2013 to 1188 matches in Fall 2017. AMP is in its fifth year and has matched over 5,000 students to mentors. Thank you for all your support as we can continue to connect and engage more student and mentor participation than ever before!
In addition, in working to promote access and opportunity to all students on campus, Career Services and Alumni Engagement have formed partnerships to address our diverse student population. We have modified the AMP program to pilot the inclusion of first-year students in targeted learning communities by working with the Office of Residential Education. Now in its second year of planning, we are partnering with the Center for Intercultural Relations to address first-generation college students and expanding the program to embrace students who are part of the campus Aztec Scholars Initiative. As our shared efforts continue, we will continue to expand access to AMP and to empower those students who seize this opportunity to have the essential experiences that allow them to advance their career development.
